Every year we try for that picture in front of the tree. Sometimes we get "it," and sometimes we don't.
Since we travel this year for Christmas, we did a little stocking unwrapping at home before we hit the road for NY. The light was dim, and they weren't in their "Christmas outfits," and they were looking satisfied at least in part because of the cookies they'd just eaten, but the smiles on those faces perfectly describe how it felt. Their giddy excitement over the little stocking stuffers, and their happy anticipation of taking the trip to Grandma's to spend the holiday. My heart is full.
